After arriving at his destination, the medieval pilgrim got a so called pilgrims batch of the place. In that way he expressed that he had fulfilled his pilgrimage. These batches were mostly made of tin and had eyes with which they were sewed to the clothing. Therefore we have many pictures of pilgrims wearing those batches on their hats or clothing.
We want to save the modern pilgrim of that time consuming sewing of the batch. At the same time we want to have a similar stable fastening to the clothing. Therefore we have designed a pilgrims batch in the form of a brooch that has a very good fixation to the clothing. The brooch has a very strong double needle which hold it in position. These brooches will not flip around as you are used to from other brooches.

The central element of the brooch is the marking of the pilgrimages of the "fraenkischen Albverein" - a white scallop on blue background - in the middle. With this marking, several pilgrimages were marked. At the moment we have the ways "Von Nuernberg ueber Heilsbronn nach Rothenburg ob der Tauber" (so called "Mittelfränkischer Jakobsweg") and "Von Wuerzburg über Rothenburg ob der Tauber nach Ulm" in our offer. We will complete this offer in the future.

We now have taken this symbol to create a beautiful pilgrims batch. You can get it in silver and in tin. Engraved into the very edge of the brooch is the pilgrimage. If you wish, we can also get your individual inscription onto a silver brooch. That means, you tell us, what inscription there should be on the edge and we will individually create that unique batch. Therefore you have the possibility to get a brooch with a personal dedication. We think that you wont get a more private present for a pilgrim.
