Medieval Group Of Pilgrims Collect Donations

Medieval charity walk for the restoration of the church St James in Rothenburg

We want to collect donations with our pilgrimage from Rothenburg ob der Tauber to Santiago de Compostela for the church St James. This city church of Rothenburg will celebrate its 700 years of existence in 2011. It is in strong need for renovation. The first phase of reconstruction is already done. According to schedule the work shall proceed and the restoration should be finished in 2011 (see also Jakob-steht-auf (Artikel 1), Jakob-steht-auf (Artikel 2) or Flyer Vorschau 3, german language only, there are also many more press releases on the german version of this site).

The estimated over all costs for the phases II to V of the reconstruction (2007-2011) are 3,6 million Euro. To that sum St James has to raise 158,000 Euro in the year 2007 from capital resources.

We try to help St. James with a medieval charity walk. We want to find donators, that are equally encouraged to help this fantastic gothic building to a new glory. Our goal is to finance the restoration of a pinnacle on the east side of the church (see the picture to the right, picture by Reifenberger). This will cost about 3,000 Euro. The money for the restoration of the pinnacle we want to collect with this medieval charity walk. Our next part of the pilgrimage will go from Groeningen to Crailsheim or even a little bit farther. We will go on pilgrimage on a day in 2008.

Group of pilgrims

Who are we?

We are a small group of medieval pilgrims that have formed around Robert Adunka to do the Way of St James in different stages. Therefore we walk two to four days each year which cover a maximal distance of 25 kilometer. We can't do more for now, as we are all very busy with our studies, jobs and family. The core team of this group consists of Susanne Schwarz, Ibrahim Karabed and Robert Adunka. Susanne and Ibrahim joined Robert somewhere on the road between Nuerenberg and Rothenburg. Since then they where always on pilgrimage together. This was named the core team, because there is a real fan community among medieval reenacters that is always informed if we set out for a other trip and sometimes they join us.

You can choose, if you want to help St James with a direct donation or via us

Because we will channel your donation to St James. You will get a contribution receipt for your paid donation directly from the church in Rothenburg.

If you want to get in contact with us, we offer you a extra: Donators will get a beautiful certificate (see german example to the right, click to enlarge) that will inform them about our charity walk and confirm about the devotement of the pilgrimage for the benefit of St. James.

After we have finished a leg of our pilgrimage, all pictures made and a description about that part of the way will be made accessible to the donator. With that the donator can follow us on our way to Santiago.

Furthermore we will refer to the donator on our homepage, if he wishes to. If he wants, the donator also get a link to his email or personal homepage. He even can a place for online advertising.

If we have stirred up your interest with this, than please fill out or formular and donate.

Go on to formular "Yes, I want to donate!".
